KALAVRITA
Historically Kalavrita first appear in 776 B.C. under
the name of Kynethi, which reveals the inhabitants'
aptitude in hunting. Kynethi was situated S.E. of today's
Kalavrita, a location between the chapel of Aghios Constantinos
and the Castle.
Kalavrita took on this name during the Frank occupation
and derives from the words "kala vrita", meaning
good springs that run in and out of the town. It is
built at an altitude of 756m above sea level in the
shadow of mount Helmos, a privileged location full of
fir trees.
Throughout the province of Kalavrita, you may visit
very important religious, historical and archaeological
sites, and other sites of great physical beauty and
of tourist interests.
